Select by document info

Belongs to

What it does

Allows you to make selections based on document info, such as the title, subject, author, keywords, producer or creator of the PDF. You can specify where the information must be taken from, and what the expected value is.

Note: From version 12 update 2 onwards, you can use regular expressions to define the value in the Compare with field (if you select Equals/Does not equal as operator method).

Example

Suppose you want to select a document of which the author is Anne Banks. It doesn't matter where this information is taken from.

Attributes:
  • Document info: author
  • Read value from: any metadata location
Note: If you select Both metadata locations, the name of the author will be searched for in both the XMP metadata stream and the info dictionary; if you select Most recent metadata location, only the most recently changed metadata location will be checked.
  • Operator method: equals
  • Compare with: Anne Banks

If you are not sure about the spelling of the name Anne (spelled Ann or Anne?), you could select the Use regular expressions checkbox and enter "Ann(e)? Banks" in the Compare with field.
