Barcode
  • Barcode types: Select the barcode you want to add. We support over 120 barcode types.
  • Value: Enter the numeric value. If a check digit is needed, you can either enter it yourself or leave it blank and let PitStop add it.
Note: Values are verified when the Action List is executed, there is no check during the configuration of the Action.
  • Ignore check digit(s): If selected, the check digit is not verified.
  • Width reduction: Width reduction compensates for 'dot gain': printed material looking darker than intended. In case of barcodes, it means that the bars are enlarged and the gaps reduced. To correct the barcode width, you can either enter an absolute value (e.g. 1 mm) or a relative value (e.g. 5%).
  • Font name and size: Select the font and the font size of your choice.
  • Group barcode objects: If selected (default), the barcode and the numeric value are grouped, so they can be handled (e.g. moved, changed,...) as one object.
Color
  • Choose the foreground color. The default color is black.
  • Select a background as required and pick a background color.
Position
  • There are two options to specify the position and size of the barcode:
    • Use selection bounding box: if selected, the barcode will be placed on the bounding box of an object in the PDF that is selected. The size of the selected object determines how big the barcode will be.
    • Specify position and size: Size and position can be defined independently from each other.

The absolute position is set by entering the X and Y coordinates.

The relative position is determined by the distance and position relative to one of the page boxes.

The size is set by entering the width and the height. If the lock icon looks closed, any changes you make to one of the dimensions changes the other dimension proportionally.

  • You can use the default quiet zone or you can determine the dimensions. The lock icon can be used to make sure proportions are kept if changes are made afterwards.
  • Barcodes can be rotated as required. Rotation angles are 90°, 270° and 360°.
Note: This Action supports variables in most fields.

Standard Action Lists

PitStop 2018 comes with a number of default Action Lists for generating barcodes.

Some of these Action Lists make use of smart variables; to that end a new Variable Set was added to PitStop 2018 (Smart Preflight Variable Set - PitStop Pro v1.3).

If you're not familiar with Smart Preflight, we recommend taking a short elearning course on Smart Preflight, available on the Enfocus website (https://www.enfocus.com/learn), or check out the PitStop Reference Guide, which has a chapter on Smart Preflight too.
