Replacing a job in SwitchClient

A Checkpoint can be configured to allow replacing a job with a new version (presumably edited on the client user's computer) before moving it out of the Checkpoint. The original job (as it resided in the Checkpoint to begin with) is lost, but its metadata is preserved.

To replace a job

Search for the job to be replaced. Only jobs in a Checkpoint allowing job replacement can be replaced. To find jobs waiting in a Checkpoint, click Alert Jobs in the Jobs filter pane at the left.
Do one of the following:
- Right-click the job and select Replace job from the context menu.
- Double-click the job or click the Process button (Card view only) to open the individual job card. In the Job Info field, under Preview, click More Actions > Replace job .
Note: If SwitchClient detects that another user is already trying to replace the job, a warning will be displayed. You can then either cancel your replacement request or overrule the other user's replacement process and start your own. This can be useful if the other user has left the computer in the middle of a replacement request and cannot be reached, or in case of a system crash.
Select the new job file or folder. You cannot choose a different name for the job; the output job always keeps the same name as the input job, regardless of the name of the replacement job. However, if you replace the job with a different file type, the output job reflects the extension of the replacement job, which is necessary to display the new file correctly.
Wait while the job is being transferred. When the transfer is complete the dialog box closes automatically. If you're replacing the job via the individual Job card, you must in one go enter the metadata (in the JobTicket section) as required, and route the job to the appropriate folder. You cannot replace the job and postpone processing till later; the OK button doesn't become active until you've entered the required information.
If you're replacing the job using the context menu, you can postpone job processing.
