Viewing log messages in SwitchClient

Users having the right permissions can see the log messages issued by the connected Switch Server(s). If more than one Switch Server is connected, all messages issued by all Servers are merged into one list.

To view the log messages in SwitchClient

  1. Click the Messages button . The Messages overview appears. If you don't see the expected messages, check if:
    • You do have the permission to view log messages. In your user profile in Switch, the View messages checkbox should be selected.
    • The Switch Server concerned is running and the connection is established properly.
    • The messages have not been deleted by Switch. Check the "cleanup" Application Data preferences in the Switch.
    • The messages are loaded already. This may not be the case if you recently added a Connection. Click the Refresh button to update the information from the Switch Server.
  2. To see the messages presented in a different way, click the Workspace button and select the appropriate view:

The text color refers to the message type (warning, info, error, ...).

Note that this view can be customized.
    • To remove a column, drag the column header upwards or downwards.
    • To move or sort the columns, drag them sideways.
    • To show or hide columns, use the context menu.
    • To show or hide columns, select Show Columns from the context menu in the column header and select or deselect the columns as required.
    • To group messages in a multi-level tree based on the columns, select Group by Columns from the context menu in the column header and select the appropriate column. The order in which the columns are checked is the order of the grouping.

If the Filters pane is used in the Table view, the layout (that is, column ordering and the columns that are hidden or visible) are remembered together with the filter.
