Starting Switch Server
The Switch Server must be running in order to process tasks.
However, you do not have to start the Switch Server manually:
- If the Switch Server is configured to start automatically at login (see
Switch preferences: User interface), it starts when
you log in to your operating system.
- On Windows, if the Switch Watchdog is configured as a Windows service,
Switch Server starts when you log in to your operating system.
- If Switch Server is not running when logging in to your operating system,
the Switch Server is started when you open Switch and connect to the
local Designer.
Note: If the Switch Server is not yet running, connecting to the Switch
Server with Remote Designer is not possible! You must first connect
to a local Designer (which starts the Switch Server), before you can
use the local Designer.
Restarting Switch Server
Restarting the Switch Server is only necessary if there are changes in the
preferences or licenses which require a Server restart.
