These preferences allow you to configure some aspects of the Switch user interface.

Property

Description

Designer Language

The language of the user interface of the Switch Designer. You can select one of the following languages:
  • English
  • German
  • French
  • Chinese
  • Japanese
Note:
  • Restart the Switch Designer to apply your changes.
  • You can also configure the language of the Switch Server. For more information, refer to Switch preferences: Processing.

Large icons in elements pane

If set to Yes, the Flow elements pane displays large icons; otherwise it displays small icons.

Save flows automatically
  • If set to Yes, flows are saved automatically before they are processed (activated, imported, exported).
  • If set to No, you're explicitly asked if you want to save the changes before activating, importing or exporting the flow
Note: This preference can also be set to Yes by selecting the Save flows automatically checkbox in the Modified flows dialog. That is the dialog that pops up when you want to activate, import or export a modified flow.
Start Switch Server automatically at login
  • If set to Yes, (default) the Switch Server is started automatically when the user logs in, and it remains running, even if the user exits Switch Designer.
  • If set to No, the Switch Server will be started automatically when the local Designer is started. If the local Designer exits, the behavior depends on the currently active flows:
    • If no flows are active, Switch Server is stopped automatically.
    • If at least one flow is active, the preference below (When exiting the flow designer) will determine what happens.

When exiting the flow designer

This option is only available if Start Switch Server automatically at login is set to No. It determines what happens to the Switch Server when the user quits Switch Designer:

Note: This preference is taken into account only in case there are currently active flows; otherwise Switch Server always exits disregarding the preference value.

Options:

  • Ensure processing is started: When quitting Switch Designer, Switch Server remains running in the background and continues processing the flows that are currently active.

  • Ensure processing is stopped: When quitting Switch Designer, all active flows are stopped and Switch Server exits.

  • Ask the user (default option): When quitting Switch Designer, Switch displays a dialog so the user can decide what to do. The user can choose either to continue processing the active flows in the background or stop all active flows and exit.

Show messages in Designer (beta feature)
This option determines how the Log Messages overview is shown when clicking the Messages button or View > Messages in the Switch Designer:
  • If set to Yes, the Messages overview is opened inside Switch Designer, in the Messages view (not in a separate window).
  • If set to No, the Messages overview is opened in a seaparate browser window, outside the Switch Designer user interface.
Note: This feature is not yet supported on all systems. If it doesn't work on a your system, you'll get an empty window instead of the Messages view.
